Abstract
The objective of this paper was to design a multi-zone completion to produce oil from a well designated PX (for confidentiality reasons). The well contains two reservoirs: one with non-eruptive oil and the other with an eruptive deep-seated gas reservoir. Analysis revealed that the initial hydrocarbon reserves indicate that the R7 oil reservoir contains 4.517396985 × 10^10 STB of initial oil, while the R8 gas reservoir contains 29.04429927 × 10^6 MMscf of initial gas. A multi-zone completion scheme was designed to extract oil from the R7 oil reservoir by utilizing energy from the deep-seated R8 gas reservoir through a single production string. Following implementation of the proposed completion, the R7 oil reservoir achieved a production rate of 2,700 STB/d, with production supported by the deep-seated R8 gas reservoir. Three oil price scenarios per barrel were selected based on market price fluctuations over a 10-year period: low (Scenario 1), medium (Scenario 2), and high (Scenario 3). The economic evaluation showed that Scenario 1 yielded a net present value (NPV) of $328.7843 and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 16.63%, Scenario 2 yielded an NPV of $602.4843 and an IRR of 12.14%, and Scenario 3 yielded an NPV of $687.1949 and an IRR of 9.62%. The results demonstrate that producing oil from the R7 oil reservoir using energy supplied by the deep-seated R8 gas reservoir remains economically profitable under all considered oil price scenarios.
